Teaching Philosophy

Art education is deeply rooted in free expression and critical thinking. I believe that all students need to express themselves freely and to consider problem-solving from different perspectives. Detailed observation and keen awareness of the surroundings are essential to art-making and storytelling. Art and technology as a tool used in tandem, have the potential to help all students express themselves in artmaking and be creative in all of their studies.

I believe cross-disciplinary classes benefit art learners the most. Interdisciplinary art teaching provides students with various approaches to one subject and helps students see different possibilities of artmaking in all fields. For example, students could design posters to express their opinions about artificial intelligence and current technology innovation, or design a 3D architectural model for a sustainable city in the future. With freedom and invoking guides, students will visualize their voices about the world around them in artmaking.

In my art & technology classes, students will enjoy their learning process and benefit from both digital design skills and critical thinking development. Students will develop interpersonal skills through collaborations, presentations, and critiques. No matter what kind of life path they choose in the future, I hope they will carry the joy and excitement they feel from art & technology class in their life and see this world in new and exciting ways.
